You own about 640 million acres of land. So do I. So does every hunter, angler, hiker, rider, and rancher in the country. National forests, BLM land, wildlife refuges: they’re held in trust for all of us.
Right now, decisions about that land are being made in comment windows most people never hear about. A mine here, a drilling rule there, a land swap buried in a federal notice. Each one is small enough to miss. Together, they add up to losing what’s ours.
Here’s how this works. Every Thursday morning, you’ll get Three Threats Thursday:
🔴 The Big One: the threat with the most at stake this week
⏰ Closing Soon: the most important deadline in the next week or so
📍 From the Field: one specific place and the people fighting for it
Each threat comes with one action that takes about two minutes and a real deadline. No long lists. No guilt. Ten minutes a week.
Keep public lands in public hands. That idea unites a lot of people who don’t always agree. Conservationists, hunters, anglers, hikers, and off-road riders all lose when public land is sold, closed off, or wrecked. When a fight splits those groups, I’ll say so plainly.
Why me?
Public lands aren't an abstraction to me. I've spent decades on them camping, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, and adventure motorcycling. Like many of you, I go there to recreate and experience wild places.
I started Save Your Public Lands because I've witnessed firsthand how special interests are working to steal, abuse, and destroy these lands for their own gain. As a former journalist, I know how to read the fine print, and I'm doing my part to keep our public lands — PUBLIC.
What I ask of you:
Subscribe. It’s free.
When you take an action, reply “done” or drop a 🌲 in the comments. I’ll share the count each week, so you can see we’re not alone.
Forward it to one person who loves a piece of public land.
I don’t run campaigns. I point you to the people who do, using sources like More Than Just Parks’ Public Lands Action Network, official federal notices, and groups from Backcountry Hunters & Anglers to The Wilderness Society. Every claim links to its source.
See you Thursday.
